“Together Again”

Bernice Louise Lundquist Van Leeuwen passed away peacefully on December 20, 2017.

She was born June 3, 1920 to Joseph Leander and Rebecca “Johanson” Lundquist in Ogden, UT. She married Claude Richard (Dutch) Van Leeuwen on November 11, 1941 in Ogden, UT, and later had four children.

Bernice was an outstanding homemaker and cook. She basically raised the family on her own since dad worked on the railroad and as a carpenter when he was not on the road. As the kids got older Mom worked at IRS as a mail clerk, she loved the work and the friends she met. Mom graduated with the first class of graduates from Ogden High School.

Mom and Dad took many vacations with their friends in their supper club. They went to Tahiti, Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, and to many of the States. They enjoyed camping with their grandkids and family get-togethers.

She was a very loving person, with a great sense of humor and a very quick comeback.

Bernice is survived by her sons: Kent (Diane), Pleasant View, UT; Michael (Constance), South Jordan, UT; 11 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dutch; son, James; and daughter, Rebecca Jill Salvo.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Inspiration Home Health and Hospice for their help. The family thanks Mom’s caregivers for their many years of friendship and companionship. We love you Christine Owens, Toa Tonga, and Taleen Perkins.
