Bert “Butch” Henry Leseberg

November 5, 1943 ~ September 7, 2016

Bert "Butch" Henry Leseberg, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully on September 7, 2016.

Bert was born in Ogden, Utah to Henry Raymond and Connie Mary Leseberg on November 5, 1943.  He was raised in Layton and spent many a day with his dog, Rod at the fishing hole in Clearfield.  Later he would spend hours working on his cars with his Dad as they shared a special bond; according to his brother he was Dad's favorite son. He graduated from Davis High School in 1962 and would later run a service station with his brother after returning from serving in the Army Reserves as a medic.

He met his beautiful wife, George Anna, while working at St. Benedict's Hospital in 1962. They were married on August 22, 1964 and lived in Ogden where he attended Weber State University.  They were opposites but devoted to each other; they argued about how many children they would have, eventually settling on four, three more than Bert wanted. Thank goodness or he would have missed out on his last and favorite child. They made so many wonderful memories together snowskiing, camping, boating, and traveling. After the kids came along Bert's affinity for fishing abated as he spent hours baiting everyone's hooks; he never did fish again unless Ray asked him to. He loved waterskiing on early morning glass, coffee, hunting with his brother and sons, and Canadian whisky.

He would retire from the Ogden Defense Depot in 1998 and start a house flipping business where he developed a fondness for cruising the streets of Ogden, Roy, Layton, and everywhere in between.  He loved driving around and in later years we would all drive him all over town getting lost following his directions to one house or another that he had flipped.

He is succeeded by his wife, George Anna; his children, Jennifer (Clint), Mark (Kris), Brian, and Jackie (Matthew); grandchildren, Andrew, Audrey, Skylar, Chloe, and Owen; his older brother, Ray, older sister, Jeannie (Bill); and little sister, Maureen (Jay).

A celebration of his life will be held at the family home on Friday, September 16, 2016 between 5 and 8 p.m. and a Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.  Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity or buy a bottle of Crown Royal Whisky and enjoy a glass for Bert.
