On June 27, 2024, heaven received another angel as Darlene Burt Stoddard passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. The eldest child of Glenn and Grace Burt, Darlene was born in Brigham City, on February 5, 1933. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Stoddard; parents; and her sister, Elaine Hansen.
Darlene attended schools in Brigham City, graduating from Box Elder High School in 1951. After high school, she attended Weber College and graduated with an associate degree in 1953.
She married William J. Stoddard September 16, 1953 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple. They were married for 30 years before his death on November 27, 1983. Their children and spouses are William and Lauren Stoddard, Paul and Susan Stoddard, Nancy and Blaine Holmes, James and Gaye Stoddard, MariAnn and Scott Wright, and Julie Stoddard and Tina Colby. Darlene is survived by her children, her 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Brian Burt.
Darlene worked at Bell Photographers for 30 years, printing photos and seeing many advancements in photography. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, most often conducting music. She is remembered as a talented singer who loved music, and a frequent attendee of Utah Symphony and musical theater performances.
She loved spending time with her family and the special friends she called the “Lunch Bunch” and “Eternal Buddies.” Darlene led a long and full life and most cherished her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother.
Darlene’s family is especially grateful to the staff of Avamere at Mountain Ridge and A-plus Hospice for the thoughtful and wonderful care they showed her.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Wasatch Ward, 6350 Combe Rd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at church. Interment, Uintah Cemetery.
