Our loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Bertus F. Young age 84, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in Ogden, Utah.

He was born June 20, 1926, in Clinton, Utah, the son of John and Geneva Young.

Bertus married his sweetheart, Lucille Hart, on January 8, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. From this marriage, he became the proud father of four children.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings throughout the years. He worked for C. Waterfall Construction and Fife Rock Sand and Gravel Company as a loader operator for 45 years.

Bert loved and cared about people and was knowledgeable in enough subjects to converse with anyone for hours. Behind his tough exterior was a kind, gentle and generous heart, who was willing to give his time and energy to help others and to make things work.

His wife Lucille, his sons, Raymond and wife Sharon Young, Gary and wife Pamela Young, his daughter Pat and husband Kevin Marx, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his brother Vern and wife Eunice Young and his many friends, survive him.

He was preceded in death by his son Dan H. Young, brothers Elden and Carl Young and sisters Merl Miller and Bernice Garner, and his father and mother.

The family would like to thank Inspiration Hospice and give special thanks to Valita, Marisa, Felica, Jodie, Marge and Lisa. Lucille expresses special thanks to the many people who are not listed for their love and support that has been greatly appreciated.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Clarence Kelly officiating.

Family will meet with friends at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 1:45 to 2:45 p.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

Donations may be made to Primary Children''s Medical Center.
