Bessie Ellen Eastman Forbes
February 15, 1929 – February 25, 2021
Our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed from this mortal life February 25, 2021. Bessie Ellen Eastman Forbes was born February 15, 1929 in Woodruff, Utah, the daughter of George W. and Sarah L. (Bryson) Eastman. She was the youngest of ten children. In her youth she lived in Morgan, Syracuse, and Clearfield.
She married Lewis Eldred Forbes on November 10, 1953 in Clearfield, Utah. They were later sealed with their children in the Salt Lake Temple. They built their home in East Layton and together they brought up five children. She sold Avon, and worked at Gibson’s Discount Center in Ogden. She also helped Lewis with their farm. They always had a large garden and canned a lot of food over the years. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2003. Lewis passed away May 13, 2006.
Bessie held many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She especially loved serving in the Relief Society of the East Layton 3rd ward, and baking bread for the sacrament in the South Weber 8th ward. She lived in East Layton for 53 years prior to moving to South Weber where she resided for the past 13 years.
She had a special talent for cross stitching, embroidering, and crocheting; she created beautiful afghans. She enjoyed making cards, and had a great love for gardening and tending to flowers both inside and out.
Bessie gave an abundance of love to her family and served us all in big ways and small ways. She is forever in our hearts and will be missed more than words can say.
She is survived by her children, Dan Forbes, Lewis Forbes II, Tammra Forbes, Zachary Forbes (Elaine); several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Carolyn Staley (Jay).
Preceded in death by husband Lewis E. Forbes, daughter Rhonda, son Vaughn, daughter-in-law Marianne Forbes, two grandchildren, parents George W.
