Bessie Eliza Nelson Kay, 86, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 30, 1924 in Thatcher, Utah to Joseph J. and Hannah D. Knowles Nelson. She was raised and educated in Box Elder County.
On January 17, 1944, Bessie married Loren O'' Deen Kay in the Logan LDS Temple.
She was an active member of the LDS Church where she served in many church callings including, Relief Society President and a LDS mission at the Washington DC Temple with her husband Loren.
She was a fabulous wife and mother and we will miss her dearly.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, gardening, especially her roses, temple work, family history, playing baseball and cheering on her favorite basketball teams.
Bessie is survived by her husband; their children, Terry Brent (Sheila) Kay, Geraldeen "Geri" (Carl) Jensen, Loren O''Deen (Sherrie) Kay II, David (Julie) Kay; 17 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorna Crozier and Hannah Colleen Pali.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Joseph Glen Nelson, Elwyn Ward Nelson; a sister, Joyce Housley; and a daughter, Sherry Kay.
The family expresses sincere appreciation to Hearts for Hospice for their care and compassion.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 10th at 11 a.m. at the Cedar Crest Ward Chapel, 3845 South 2000 West.
The family will meet with friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations be made, the night of the visitation, to Primary Children''s Medical Center, in memory of Bessie.
