Bessie Talbot Moultrie

Bessie Talbot Moultrie was born October 4, 1920, to Hyrum Gilbert Talbot and Telitha Jane Simmons Talbot in West Layton, Utah. She passed away November 29, 2008, at her home in Clearfield, Utah surrounded by her loved ones.

Bessie grew up in West Layton and graduated from Davis High School. She married Charles Carlos Moultrie, the love of her entire life, on February 11, 1941, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She worked at the Navy Base during the war. They lived in Washington, Oregon, California, West Layton, and Clearfield, Utah.

Bessie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as Relief Society President, counselor, and teacher; and Primary President, counselor, and teacher. She and her husband worked over 16 years as ordinance workers in the Ogden Temple. She loved the Lord and never wavered in her faith of Jesus Christ.

Bessie and Charlie traveled all over the west on a motorcycle. They prized their participation at the temple and spent many hours doing work there. She treasured most of all her family and did everything she could to keep them together by having family dinners for every occasion. Her only fault was worrying too much. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles ("Charlie boy"), on May 20, 2008. Also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ileen Taylor, and two brothers, Bill and DuWayne Talbot.

She is survived by three sons and one daughter: Tim (Kathy), Kaysville; Randy (Paula), Porterville; Brett (Connie), West Point; and Myrna (Jim) McCowan, Layton; as well as 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Belva Schofield.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield 4th Ward, 838 E. 600 So. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
