Beth Maughan Nye Austin

Beth Maughan Nye Austin, 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 13, 2011. She was born on April 6, 1913 to Joseph Edward and Elizabeth Maughan Nye in Paris, Idaho. She later moved to Logan where she was reunited with her best friend Laurence R. Austin. They were married on October 29, 1938 in Logan.

Larry and Beth moved to Washington DC and then to Salt Lake City. They finally settled in Washington Terrace. Beth was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully on the Stake Relief Society Board and as a Relief Society teacher. Larry and Beth served in the Hugoton, Kansas Mission.

Beth was a wonderful seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, handwork and making crafts. She embroidered many temple aprons. Beth was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

She is survived by her sons, Larry (Betty) Austin and Mark (Shari) Austin, daughters, LaRue (Ted) Johnstun and Dorothy Beck, 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Laurence, sister Mildred Taylor, and brother Ross Nye.

Friends may visit family on Friday, November 18, 2011 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. There will be a private family graveside service at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
