On a rainy Sunday morning, March 6, 2016, the cornerstone of our family returned to heaven to be with family waiting for her there. Beth Kirkman was born, at home, May 23, 1925, in Slaterville, UT, to Joseph and Martha Ogden. She was the 17th of 18 children and was the last surviving.
She learned about hard work while helping on the family farm. She graduated from “the old” Weber High School. After graduating, she married Albert Kirkman. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Over the years, she worked various jobs to include 35 plus years at Sagel’s One Hour Martinizing in Ogden. Everyone she met there, she considered a friend.
She lived in Clearfield for the last 65 years.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was recognized for 50 years of Primary service.
Her life has been in constant service to others. She was happiest when she was with her grandkids and in her later years playing bingo.
She is the mother to LaRue Hawthorn (Bob), Ray Kirkman (Sue), Doug Kirkman (Debbie), Ronald Kirkman (Cheryl), Darlene Wiggill (Bryan), and Marsha Sowerby; grandmother to 20 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, and a great grandson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield 7th Ward, 300 North Vine Street, Clearfield. Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
We would like to extend our thanks to Clearfield Chancellor Gardens for 13 years of care and friendship. Mom made many wonderful friends while residing there. A special thanks to Rocky Mountain Hospice for the loving care they provided.
Mom taught us, “If our lives and our faith are centered upon Jesus Christ and his restored gospel, nothing can ever go permanently wrong. On the other hand, if our lives are not centered on the Savior and his teachings, no other success can ever be permanently right.” - Howard W. Hunter
Mom we love you and we will miss you.
