Beth Peek Wilson, 86, our mom, grandma, sister and friend passed away at home after a valiant fight against lung cancer on January 28, 2023. She was born on May 19, 1936 in Ogden, UT, a daughter of Alford Jabez Peek and Fern Alberta Tracy.
She grew up in South Weber and had many fond memories of her life working and playing on the family farm with her brothers Ray & Vern and her parents. She graduated from Davis High School and LDS Seminary in 1954. She worked for Hill Air Force Base. While working on Base, she met Don Wilson. They were married on September 14, 1963 in South Weber, UT. They were later sealed in the Ogden Temple.
Beth had a love for gardening and took great pride in her beautiful yard. She taught many people about plants and knew the names of all of them. Beth worked side by side with her husband Don making their yard a beautiful place for people to come and get their pictures taken. She had a beautiful green thumb.
Beth loved to get out and walk her three miles a day. When the weather allowed, Beth could be found early in the morning walking the roads of South Weber and in the Rec Center when the weather was poor. She loved reading and was an avid reader of many books genres but especially her mysteries! She made friends wherever she went. She knew everyone in South Weber and everyone knew Beth.
After Don retired, he started driving a school bus for the Davis County School District, Beth took a job as the crossing guard for the kids in South Weber. Beth loved her job as a crossing guard and got to know all the kids and their parents. She was well known by the entire community.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a longtime member of the South Weber 1st and Pioneer Wards. She served as a Ward Librarian for many years and made lasting relationships with ward members. One of Beth’s favorite callings was serving as the Stake Indexing Specialist. She dedicated countless hours and many years to this calling and took it very seriously. She continued to index daily until her health would not allow her to do so. Beth was passionate about family history work.
Her grandchildren loved her very much and will always remember Sunday dinners at Grandma and Grandpas where Grandma made the best food and the yummiest apple pie, brownies and angel food cake! They each know how much Grandma loved them and they are grateful for her and the love she showed them.
Beth is survived by her son Matt (Nancy) Wilson of Farr West; grandchildren: Sam (Ciara) Wilson, Emma (Jayden) White, Sophia & Ava; brother Vern (Marilyn) Peek; sister-in-law Gay Wilson and many other beloved close family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Don; brother Ray Peek and sister-in-law Karen Peek.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the many family and friends that helped Beth with her care along with the doctors and staff at Utah Hematology Oncology and the staff at Simbii Hospice.
