Beth Elaine Rigby Porter

Beth Elaine Rigby Porter, 71, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 20, 2022 in Layton, Utah.
She was born March 15, 1951 to Alma Bartlett and Ivonne Jensen Rigby in Ogden, UT. She graduated from Bountiful High School in 1969.
Beth graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She was passionate about learning and truly was a lifelong learner and educator.
She served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Scotland Mission and loved teaching and sharing the gospel throughout her entire life.
On November 22, 1974, she married Paul Edgar Porter in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She taught 3rd through 6th grades in a variety of school districts and at a variety of schools. She later obtained a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Weber State University focusing on special education and taught special education at the high school level.
Beth’s proudest achievement were her children, Marybeth, Jeremiah Paul, James Jared (JJ), and Heather Ann and her 13 grandchildren.
Beth and Paul were serving as Transition Missionaries for the Weber County Correctional Facility until Paul’s passing in 2011.
She is survived by her children, Marybeth and Brian Lemon, Rexburg, ID; JJ and Ashlee Porter, Layton; and Heather and Eric Ball, Bakersfield, CA; her grandchildren, Brandon, Sara, Janessa, Jacob, Benjamin, Madilyn, Samuel, Bridger, Libby, Rossie, Molly, William, and Mary. She is also survived by her siblings, Peggy Gyllenskog, Boise, ID; Frank and Pam Rigby, Vancouver, WA; and Lauralee Rigby, Vernal, UT.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jeremiah Paul; and brother, Alma J. Rigby.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Hooper Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to your local school district or educational foundation.
