Betty Jane Dickamore Bradshaw

November 11, 1928 ~ April 11, 2016

Betty Jane Dickamore Bradshaw, 87, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016.  She was born on November 11, 1928 in Ogden, Utah, to Paul and Nellie Upton Dickamore.   She attended Wahlquist Jr. High School.  After finishing 8th grade, she dropped out to help work on the family dairy farm.

She married Wayne Baugh Bradshaw on October 29, 1947 in Ogden.  They celebrated 68 years of marriage last October.

Betty worked at Farr’s Ice Cream, then as an elevator operator at Eccles Building and First Security Bank. She also worked as a maid at the Millstream Motel and she boxed meals for the servicemen, was a machinist at Thiokol, a fruit handler at Sunkist, and cleaned buildings for the LDS Church.

She enjoyed gardening, computer games, sewing, crocheting, knitting, cooking, camping, fishing, boating, and the Utah Jazz.

Mom’s life was spent loving, serving, and sacrificing for others. She was selfless, kind and hard-working. She taught us to be self-sufficient. She gardened in the summer, canned in the fall and kept us well fed all year.  Mom was an excellent cook. Everyone loved her chocolate drop cookies and her baked bread. Her hugs were a bit of heaven. Mom was a pure example of looking for the good in others.  Her life was far from glamorous, but she never complained. Through our mother's eyes, we never felt like a burden, but always a blessing.

Betty is survived by her husband, Wayne; children, Diane (Rex) Clark, Riverside, CA; Coleen Corbridge, Farmington, UT; Dean (Randy) Bradshaw, Ogden, UT; Marilyn (Steve) Smith, Centennial, CO; David (Rebecca) Bradshaw, Versailles, KY; Chris Bradshaw, South Weber; and James (Jeannie) Bradshaw, Parker, CO; 48 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard Dickamore; and sisters, Ruth LaFleur and Helen Wilson.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Bradshaw; her parents, her brothers, Albert Dickamore and Thomas Dickamore; and stepsons, Paul Bradshaw and Marvin Bradshaw.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
