Betty D. Brunker
June 7, 1921 ~ October 16, 2016
Betty D. Brunker passed away on October 16, 2016 at 95 years of age. She was born in Panguitch, Utah to Frank A. Baker and Myrtle Syrett Baker on June 7, 1921. She graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber College.
She married Max A. Brunker on August 17, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and they enjoyed seventy wonderful years together. They were blessed with three children, two girls and one son, Karen (Kirk) Peery of Taylorsville; Laurie (Brad) Williams of Ogden; and Roger (Julie) Brunker of Roy, Utah. She often said how grateful she was to have such a close family.
Betty was an excellent pianist. She met Max one Sunday when he needed an accompanist to sing at a church meeting. He liked her playing and she liked his voice and the two of them entertained at various civic affairs and countless funerals and weddings.
She was a skilled secretary and worked for financial institutions and legal firms while her husband served in the Armed Forces during WWII. Upon his return they started their family and, although her main focus was always her family, she was often called by various legal firms and business to help when needed.
Betty served as a volunteer for the PTA, the old Dee Hospital and the new McKay Dee Hospital for many years. She enjoyed her membership in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and had numerous stake and ward callings as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But her greatest calling was as a wife and mother.
Mom loved to travel and she and her husband spent many special years together enjoying new sights and interesting places. She always made holidays special and her home has always been a wonderful place for the family to gather. We will forever remember the good times we spent there. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will truly be missed.
Betty is survived by her three children, eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her brother, Fred A. Baker.
According to her wishes, a private family graveside service has been held. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, do something special for someone you love.
