Betty E. Butters

Betty E. Butters NORTH OGDEN – Surrounded by her loving family, our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Betty Elmer Butters, was called home to her Heavenly Father on Monday, April 20, 2009. She fought a courageous battle against brain cancer. She was immensely loved and appreciated by so many, especially her family. She was tenderly cared for by her husband, Ernie, and her daughter Jill, for the past three years. She was able to lead a more fulfilling life thanks to the unwavering love and support the two of them gave to her. Betty was born March 19, 1936 in Neola, Utah, the second child of Raymond and Zelda Prescott Elmer. On April 7, 1958 she married her eternal sweetheart, Carl Ernest Butters Jr. in the Logan LDS Temple for time and all eternity. Betty was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints North Ogden East 14th Ward. She served in many callings and was an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple for over 10 years. She made many long and lasting friendships while at the temple. Betty brought joy and happiness to everyone she touched. No matter the trial, she maintained a happy, cheerful, sweet attitude and was grateful for all life’s blessings. She loved to dance, garden and travel with her family. Most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was, and always will be, adored by her family. She and Ernie were inseparable for over 51 years together. Everyone that knew them referred to them as being “hooked at the hips”. Surviving are her loving husband Ernie of North Ogden; their three children, Kent (Becky) Butters and Craig (Lori) Butters, both of Pleasant View; Jill (Jed) Hunter, North Ogden; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are one brother, Blaine (Reanon) Elmer, Woods Cross; and three sisters, Leah Rands, Plain City; Keitha (Grant) Geilman, Farr West; and Elaine (Jay) Kendall, Uintah. Preceding Betty in death were her parents, in-laws and brother-in-law, Dale Rands. The family expresses their thanks to the North Ogden East 14th Ward, Dr’s. Lealand Rogers (Cyber Knife Unit) and Ali Chocair (Huntsman & LDS Hospitals) and the staff at Ogden Regional Cancer Institute for all their compassionate care during her fight for life. We would also like to thank her daughter-in-law, Becky Butters, for her research on cancer treatments, and Hearts for Hospice for their loving care of our wife and mother. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park.
