Betty Deloris Cantrell Bass

February 12, 1939 – December 20, 2020

Betty Deloris Cantrell Bass, our beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the age of 81. Betty passed as she lived, peacefully and honorably, and surrounded by her family.

Betty was born in La Grande, Oregon on February 12, 1939 to Lydia and Harold “Bus” Cantrell. Betty married the love of her life, Robert Lee Bass, in 1972. Shortly after marrying Robert, they moved to Salem, Oregon where they lived happily for 43 years. Together, Betty and Robert proudly raised four daughters whom she adored.

Betty was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith was remarkably strong and her presence never failed to bring a feeling of peace and comfort to those around her.

Betty was a hard worker and was very proud of the many years she worked as an office manager for Capitol Investigation. Betty enjoyed reading, watching the Portland Trail Blazers, the color red, and enjoying a Coke with no ice. She had a beautiful singing voice and never missed an opportunity to sing Happy Birthday to her grandkids.

In her later years, Betty accomplished a lifelong dream and traveled to Scotland and Ireland. In 2018, she moved to Layton, Utah to be closer to her family. She enjoyed watching the military jets fly over her home and admiring the sunsets off her patio.

Above all, Betty’s favorite hobby was being with her family. She loved each of them deeply and seldom missed any activity her daughters or grandchildren were involved in. Her family was her proudest accomplishment, and they will miss her immensely.

Betty was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Robert Lee Bass. She is survived by her daughters, Darlynn Hanna (Rob Kelly), Joy Glocar (Dave), Kari Reese (David), Ronda Lenox (Brock), her sister, Janet McManus, 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Interment, Willamette National Cemetery, Oregon.

Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.
