Betty Jean Gibbons Havens

Betty Jean Gibbons Havens, 85, passed away in her sleep on June 18, 2016 due to cancer. She was born on August 22, 1930 in Park City, Utah to Elmer Oliver Gibbons and Ada V. Brown. She grew up in Ogden, Utah. She graduated from Ogden High School where she met Glen Clare Havens. They were married on March 16, 1949, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She was a fulltime housewife and mother. She was an active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life. She played the piano and organ most of her life as a ward and stake organist. She also served as an organist in the Ogden LDS Temple. She also served as a Primary Teacher, Young Women President, and as a ward and stake historian.
Betty is survived by her husband, and six children, Raymond (Karlyn) Havens, Charles Havens, Gloria (Randel) Rich, Paul Havens, Nancy (Neil) Carter and Carol (Thane) Heninger; 24 grandchildren, also 28 great-grandchildren; her brother, Carl (Edith) Gibbons; and sister, Linda (Richard deceased) Thorne. She was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest grandson, Michael Havens.
We want to express our thanks to the paramedics, ambulance providers, nurses and doctors in the Emergency Room at the McKay Dee Hospital Center, and all other doctors that took care of her. We would especially like to thank Hearts for Hospice for their love and care at the end of her life.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Washington Terrace East Stake Center, 4760 South 200 East. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
