Betty Jean Hosmer
OGDEN – Betty lived the last days of her life just as she had lived all the others. With strength and beauty, courage and dignity.
Born to Wes and Lois Register on August 3, 1934, in Norman Park, Georgia, Betty Jean Register spent her youth in both Georgia and Florida. She graduated from Lake Park High School in 1952, where she was voted “Miss-All-Around” for her athleticism, academics and popularity. She went to airline school, became an agent and met Presidents and entertainers booking their flights.
She met the love of her life, Richard Hosmer, and they were married August 11, 1956, in San Francisco, CA. Richard was a military pilot so Betty got to travel the world and made many lifelong friends everywhere she went. She was the best Mother three kids could have, sometimes having to do it all with Dad bravely serving his country in Vietnam and elsewhere.
Betty was best known as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, gourmet cook, skier and a canasta and bridge player, where she met many dear friends. She volunteered her time to the American Red Cross and others, and had a career later in life at Ogden’s Weinstocks. She was a member of Community Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter and one brother. Surviving are her daughter Hope (Tom) Bernick, one son, Don, one step-son, Richard, three brothers and one sister, whom Betty waited to see before leaving us.
The family would like to thank Hearts for Hospice, the office of Dr. Harold Johnson and all at Ogden Regional Hospital for their caring and comfort.
Graveside services will held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2006 at Lindquist’s Layton Memorial Park, 1867 North Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Thursday from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
