Betty Jane Lowther
OGDEN a" Betty Jane Lowther, 87, passed away Monday, December 6, 2010 at her home of causes incident to age. Her loving husband Darrell was at her side holding her hand when she passed away.
She was born July 25, 1923 in Milburn, Wyoming, a daughter of Ozias and Ruth Carty Kilburn. Betty was raised by her older sister Ivie Frazier. They traveled the country to make a living during the Great Depression, eventually settling in Ogden, Utah. Although she only completed the 4th grade, Betty taught herself to read, write and do arithmetic.
Betty worked for many years as a nurse''s aide at Valley Drive Nursing Home.
On February 9, 1963, she married the love of her life, Darrell Lowther, in Ogden, UT.
Betty had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She sang with many church choirs throughout her life. She enjoyed CB radios and was a member of the Ogden Diesel Control CB radio club for many years.
Betty was legally blind for a major portion of her life. She never let that hinder her abilities to be a great wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband Darrell Lowther, Ogden; son, Mark (Robyn) Lowther, Plain City; two grandchildren, Scott and Nicole Lowther; one brother, Robert Kilburn, Perry; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Ruth Husier and Ivie Frazier.
The family wishes to thank Intermountain Hospice, with a special thanks to Julie Lee and Bobbi Hyer who helped make her final days comfortable.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family will greet friends at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
