Betty Louise Marker 1929 ~ 2013

Betty Louise Marker, age 84, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2013 in Ogden, Utah. Betty grew up in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Dayton, 1947. She received a degree from Dayton Art Institute, later graduating with a BA degree from BYU in Provo. She was a talented professional artist and illustrator, also doing work in archeology and excavation while she worked at Brigham Young University. She worked for many years with the Utah State Parks and Recreation, and the U.S. Forest Service.

She loved the outdoors, hiking and fishing. She treasured the companionship of many pet dogs, particularly Noah and Cherokee. Betty was an avid bowler and loved association with bowling league friends for several decades. For the past 8 years she was a resident of Emeritus Estates Assisted Living in Ogden, Utah.

Betty is survived by one brother, George F. Marker (Hazel) of Brookville, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Marker of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Mary Marker of North Ogden, Utah, along with many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence M. and Pearl L. Marker, brothers, Arthur O. Marker of Dayton, Ohio and C. James Marker of North Ogden, Utah.

A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Emeritus Estates. Private family services will also be held at a later date in Dayton, Ohio which will be her final resting place, next to her parents. Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary.

Many thanks to the fine staff at Emeritus Estates for their kind and tender care to Betty. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
