Betty Moore

Our beloved matriarch, Betty Stewart Moore, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2013 at her home in Sunset, Utah surrounded by her loved ones. Born to Scott W. and Gertrude A. Stewart on April 11, 1922, Mrs. Moore was the mother of Philip Moore (deceased) and Carol Moore Scott; sister to Scott Stewart and Everett Huggins (both deceased) and wife of 65 years to Willie F. Moore, a prominent leader in the community and renowned barber in the Historic 25th Street district in Ogden.

Mrs. Moore was well recognized in the greater Ogden area for her tireless dedication to leadership and service in the community. She had an accomplished 32 year career at Hill Air Force Base, towards the end of which she was a lead instructor in race relations. After retirement, she attended Weber State University and graduated with honors. Her community service was punctuated by her work with the Women''s Historical Society of Ogden where she helped fund scholarships for African-American students, as well as her membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She was also a classically trained pianist and published author.

Mrs. Moore is survived by her eight grandchildren: Kevin, Maria, Cara, Angelo, Brandon, Kourtney, Jourdon, and Keisha, as well as eight great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.
