It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Betty E. Allen Ramsey, who left us on April 24, 2024, in North Ogden, Utah. Betty was born on March 3, 1927, in Vinita, Oklahoma, to Clifton G. Allen and Beulah E. Deitrick.
Together with her husband Wally E. Ramsey, whom she married on February 11, 1983, in Elko, Nevada, Betty tended to farm animals on their property. They raised chickens, sheep, horses, and cows while selling fresh eggs and garden vegetables. Betty's resourcefulness knew no bounds; she could stretch a dollar and come up with ingenious tricks to make or fix things - embodying the essence of an old-school maven.
Betty led a vibrant and fulfilling life, touching the hearts of those around her with her kindness and talents. She wore many hats throughout her life - from being a dealer in Reno, Nevada, to attending Beauty School and working at a mental Hospital where she formed a lifelong friendship with Phyllis that endured over 70 years.
Her creativity shone through as she made trapshooting vests for the members of the Ogden Gun Club and managed the concession stand there for numerous years. Betty's love extended not only to people but also to her furry friends. She adored the many dogs and cats she had over the years, often showing them more affection than most humans.
In her free time, Betty enjoyed being a homemaker and engaging in hobbies like sewing breathtaking quilts, gardening, canning produce, fishing, and dancing. Her infectious spirit brightened every room she entered.
She was the very first customer at the WinCo Grocery Store grand opening when it opened in Layton, Utah when she turned 90 years old.
Betty will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Cindy (Ron) Smith), Caren Thomas, Annet Sartor; one brother Jerry Allen; two sisters Wanda Davis and Brenda (George) Hanson; her lifelong friend Phyllis;13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews - especially Carl and Donna Thornbrue and Linda and Larry Bryant.
