Betty Geraldine Reece

July 23, 1944 ~ April 7, 2017

Betty Geraldine Reece, born July 23, 1944, our gentle, sweet, mischievous inspiration, was called home to her Heavenly Father on April 7, 2017. She was a graduate of Davis High School, and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved working in the relief society, young women’s and in the scouting positions she held.

Geraldine’s talents were many: she cooked, sewed, gardened, canned, and laughed. She lost her eyesight early on, which caused her to retire from her job at the IRS before she was ready. She found another way to give back by finding opportunities to be of service to others by sewing clothes, gathering supplies, or her particular love, crocheting blankets. Her hands were never idle as she crocheted at every moment. She would gift her creations to different charities, always concerned for the well-being of others.

Geraldine married Charles Allen Cearley and together they had three children, they later divorced. She then married her lifetime sweetheart, Jerry Don Reece Sr., who was by her side until the moment of her passing. Her family was her most cherished love.

She was born to Morris (deceased) and Betty Nattress. Her siblings were: Stanley (Cathy) Nattress of SLC; Brent Nattress of Ogden; Bonnie Page (Allan) (her sister and best friend), of Sunset; and Roger (Carol) Nattress of Ogden. She was loved and cherished by her children, Mary Beltran, Charlie (Michelle) Cearley, and Patty (Greg) Norman, and two stepchildren; Jerry Reece and Crystal Woodruff. Her nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and five great grandchildren were able to experience firsthand her humble and kind spirit.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the Sunset 2nd Ward Chapel, 220 West 975 North. The family will meet with friends on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Geraldine wanted everyone to celebrate her life, and not be sad. Please wear bright colors and smiles, because that was who she was. Geraldine has donated her eyes to research so that that others may someday see. Her last and final gesture of service.
