Beverly K. Hansen
NORTH OGDEN – Beverly Kearl Hansen, 77, wife, mother, educator and friend to all passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2008.
She was born to George and Violet Kearl March 4, 1930, in Smithfield, Utah, the twelfth of fourteen children.
She married Eugene D. Hansen on November 25, 1953. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Beverly graduated from the USU in 1952. She did graduate work at USU, BYU and the U of U. She taught English for 36 years in several school districts including Davis County, Glendale, CA, and Sacramento, CA. Her final 25 years of teaching were spent at Ogden High School where she was the Chairman of the Language Arts Department for 18 years and served as the Tigerettes Drill Team Advisor for ten years.
During her career she chaired the development and preparation of four curriculum guides for Ogden City Schools. She also developed a curriculum guide for the English program grades 9 thru 12. She was appointed to the State Course of Study and the State Textbook Commission. She was the recipient of the Greater Ogden Week Teacher of the Year Award.
She also served in the community as a member of the North Ogden City Board of Adjustments, a member of the Ogden Symphony Guild, and a member of the North Ogden Civic League.
Beverly is survived by her husband of 54 years, her daughter Marcea Owen, three grandchildren, Trey Owen, Kate Owen and Taylor Owen, one brother, Jim Kearl and two sisters, Laura Kearl Monson and Donna Kearl Bergener.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 3, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Ben Lomond 12th Ward Chapel, 650 East 3610 North, North Ogden, Utah.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Sunday, March 2, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the Ward Chapel 10 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
