Beverly Barlow Holbrook

August 22, 1954 ~ August 27, 2014

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, Beverly Barlow Holbrook, 60, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 27, 2014 at her home following a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). She was born in Ogden on August 22, 1954, the fourth child of Doran Heap and Anna Harding Barlow. She was a lifelong resident of Ogden.

Beverly married the love of her life, Richard T. Holbrook on September 4, 1975 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with four children and Beverly considered Richard's two children from a previous marriage as if they were her own.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in various callings, including serving as Relief Society President.

Beverly graduated from Ogden High and attended Weber State College. As a child, Beverly learned the value of hard work from her parents which she instilled in her children as she ran her own businesses as well as cleaning commercial buildings together as a family. She worked at Allstate claims, and later enjoyed working for Dr. Ron Gordon and South Ogden Intermountain Clinic as a medical receptionist.

Beverly loved her family, she especially enjoyed her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. Beverly enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children. She also enjoyed baking, sewing, camping, playing games with family and friends, and bending over backwards for her grandchildren because she was the number one grandma. She particularly cherished her last two years with her family, especially the family vacations.

Beverly's love and smile touched the lives of everyone she met. She made many friends due to her compassion, kindness, love, and generosity. Her example of unconditional love and unwavering faith is a lesson to us all.

Beverly is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Richard; children, Michelle (Greg) Nelson, Melanie (David) Parker, Matthew (Jennifer) Holbrook, Stefnie (Evan) Tinney, and Garry (Rachelle) Holbrook; 20 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, father, Doran (Frances) Barlow, and siblings, Dora Ann Tesch, Brenda Welling, her younger twin Doran "Brad" Barlow, Debra Cox, Michael Barlow, Patricia Berglund, and Bryant Barlow, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Holbrook; her sister, Ruelene Fox; her mother, Anna Barlow; and her in-laws, Albert and Elsie Holbrook.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Eastwood Ward, 5855 Skyline Dr.  Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.

The family thanks Beverly's extended family and her many friends for their considerate and compassionate services. Additionally, Intermountain Hospice and her nurse Lissa deserves special thanks.
