Beverly Romyn Montgomery Beverly Romyn Montgomery (Grandma Beverly), 87, died February 18, 2008 of causes incident to age. Born March 3, 1920 to Cornielius Romyn and Margaretha Chabot in Ogden, Utah. She married Chester. Montgomery on June 1, 1937 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in West Point where she still resided at the time of her death.
In 1968, she and her husband, Chester, opened Montgomery Kiddie Kollege Pre-school where she became "Grandma Beverly" to the children, their parents and to all who knew her. In November of 2007 she was the recipient of the West Point City Lifetime Achievement Award. Beverly and Chester opened their home to more than 50 foster children and together instigated what is now known as the Pumpkin Walk, a tradition still celebrated in Syracuse, Utah with thousands of people attending.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings including four full time missions. She was an avid genealogist and made weekly visits to the library in Salt Lake City for over 50 years.
She is survived by three children; Jerry R (Geniel) Montgomery, Annice M. (Galen) Nixon, Eddie R (Chris) ) Montgomery, along with 14 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and son Louis R. Montgomery.
Funeral services will be held at 11:a.m. Saturday, February 23, at West Point Stake Center located at 2300 West 550 North. Family and friends may call at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center.
