Bill Sidwell

Bill Sidwell returned to his Heavenly home Monday night, surrounded by his adoring wife and his loving children and grandchildren, moving on to his next great adventure. A man of experience and a life well-lived, Bill's legacy is one of full-bodied laughter.

Born to Amy Lou Danner and Alfred Sidwell on April 18, 1932, Bill was the youngest of 14 children and grew up in Provo, Utah.

Bill married Margaret Barker in 1949 and though they later divorced, his life was forever enriched with their three children. In 1964 Bill married Judith Diamond and adopted her son whom he adored. Together they also adopted a beautiful daughter. They later divorced. In 1992 Bill married his consummate match Alice Holtry (Roskelley), even though he was far outnumbered with her seven children in tow.

As a member of the Army and the Army Reserve, Bill served during the Korean War. Bill was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Despite his often gruff approach, his classic answer to the common question "How are you?" was "Terrible" with a small smile and a twinkle in his eye, Bill was a tender-hearted man who sought opportunity to serve, comfort and cherish those he loved. Bill was a jokester throughout his life, making people laugh and enjoy the moment when they were around him. An incredibly hard worker, Bill's creativity and artistry expanded beyond his career as a cement contractor in places as far away as Hawaii. Whether it was his highly sought after chocolates (one could only hope to be on the list at Christmas) or his delicate woodwork or stained glass, his artwork adorned the homes of those he loved. From teaching his many talents to his sweet grandchildren to pretending (not) to cheat during Friday night card games, Bill was a man of family and friends.

A special thanks to the many friends, family and health care workers who visited, loved and cared for Bill in his final weeks.

Bill is survived by a big and loving family. His wife Alice; his children, William (Adoris), and Annette (Randy) Braaten, both of Arizona; Todd (Amy), Dana (Perry) Rogers; his step- children Chris (Lorilee), Dee (Lana), Brett (Nicole), Nicole (Gordon), Lisa (Christian), Sam (Annie); his 34 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and his beloved sister Barbara Windler.

Bill was preceded in death by 12 siblings, his parents and his son David K. Sidwell and stepson Curtis L. Roskelley.
