Blaine Rue Cunnington passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013.
He was born in Hooper, Utah to Rue and Della Craythorne Cunnington. He was raised and educated in Hooper and attended Weber High School.
At age 17, Blaine enlisted in the US Navy and served during World War II.
On October 26, 1949, he married LaVona Simpson. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on November 4, 1955. They enjoyed 20 winters together at their home in Beaver Dam, Arizona.
Blaine was employed at Hill Air Force Base for 30 years as Supervisor of Reclamation.
He was an active member of the LDS Church where he faithfully served in various callings. He held a special place in his heart for temple work and as a Blazer Scout leader.
Blaine was a charter member of the Hooper Lions Club and also served as a local and county 4-H leader. He was proud to be the care taker of Hooper Park when President Reagan visited.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and especially loved family reunions.
Blaine leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Lavona; their children, Lana (Kyle) Widdison, Laurie (Don) Sides, Duane (Joyce) Cunnington, Sherie (Eddie) Taylor, Penny (Garth) Fowers; 20 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; and two sisters, Ruth (Junior) Bennett and Bernice Strebel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank dear Tiffany and Lola from Bristol Hospice for their tremendous support and wonderful care of our husband and father.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 27th at 12 p.m. at the Hooper Third Ward Chapel, 5601 South 6100 West.
The family will meet with friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church.
