Blaine Reed

January 9, 1984 — February 21, 2019

Blaine Reed died unexpectedly on February 21, 2019 in Layton, Utah at the age of 35.  Blaine is survived by his sons River and Bronson Reed of St. Anthony, Idaho, his mother Maria Leslie of Layton, Utah, father David Reed Sr. of Layton, Utah, brother David Reed Jr., of St. Anthony, Idaho, Travis Reed of La Grande, Oregon, his sisters; Sherri Misiasz of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Shana Carlson of Bountiful, Utah, Mindy Plumlee of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Shelby Tracy of Layton, Utah. He was preceded in death by his sister Brandi Lee Reed, nephew David William McGuire and his grandparents Irene and Haven Reed of Bountiful, Utah.

Blaine was born on January 9, 1984 in Bountiful Utah to the parents of Maria and David Reed.  After high school, Blaine became an electrician up in Island Park, Idaho.  Soon after Blaine became filled with a desire to become a Police Officer and he did.  Blaine then attended the Police Academy in Boise, Idaho, followed by his appointment to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Department, where he also served as their K-9 Deputy.  After eight years of service Blaine then joined the Idaho Falls Police Department in 2015 as a police officer.  Soon after he joined the Idaho Falls Police Department, they learned that he was already a registered K-9 handler.  To his amazement the department then developed a K-9 handler position for Blaine to fill.  In Blaine’s short time with the Idaho Falls Police Department he became the recipient of the Life Saving Award, in recognition for the life saving measures administered to an overdose victim.

Blaine was a man of Valor, never putting himself before others in anything he did.  He was a devoted father, faithful son, friend, and Police Officer.  He was an avid archery hunter, fisherman, upland game, and waterfowl enthusiast.  Blaine had a heart for God and had no problems sharing his love, or his heart, with everyone that he meets.  Blaine will be missed by all that he knew.
