Blair W. Holding
Blair W. Holding passed on to calmer waters on August 2, 2010. He was born October 3, 1949 in Salt Lake City to Bernice and Elbert Holding.
He attended East High School and graduated from West High School in 1968. After graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force as a jet engine mechanic. He was honorably discharged after four years of service. He worked at Hill Air Force Base in numerous positions for 32 years, retiring as Unit Chief in 2004.
He married Patricia (Pat) Tavoian on June 18, 1971. They were together as best friends and partners until the end. We loved, we laughed, we lived. His love of fishing, archery, and camping were shared with many friends and family. He was always the life of the party and his sense of humor will live on forever with all who knew him. He enjoyed spending time with his children and family. Blair and Pat''s siblings meant everything to him and the time spent with each of them was cherished immensely.
Blair is survived by his wife Pat, daughter Ricci Anne Allan, son Ryan (Dani) Holding, grandchildren Phoenix, Lane, and Cheyenne, sister Claudia (Gene) Hess, brother Farrell (Judy) Holding, brother Brent (Reva) Holding, sister Merrilee (Rob) Clark, brother Marty (Louie) Holding, brother-in-law Mel Mitchell, and sister-in-law Karen Holding. Blair was preceded in death by his parents, sister Caroline Mitchell, brothers Rand Holding, Kirk Holding, and Kim Holding. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, a multitude of friends, and his two "girls" Oreo and Sugar.
Our hearts are heavy at the moment, but as Blair always said, "This too shall pass". The family gives thanks to the staff at Huntsman Cancer Hospital, with special thanks to Dr. Sklow and Barbi. The family also has great appreciation and love for Hospice for Utah. We want to thank our special angels, Lisa Lassatter and Debbi Roest. With their love, support, and caring we made it through the storm.
Graveside services will be held at Kaysville City Cemetery, Friday, August 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Hospice for Utah.
