Blake Thomas Meibos
December 4, 1965 – December 24, 2015
Blake Thomas Meibos, 50, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015. He was born December 4, 1965 in Ogden, Utah to Gene and Joanne Meibos. He graduated from Weber High School in 1984. He married Wendy Thompson July 29, 1983 and they had three children, Jenna, Brock, and Brit. They were later divorced.
Blake grew up working on the family dairy farm where he learned the values of hard work and integrity. Throughout his lifetime he worked for various companies including Hajoca Corp., Midas, Pro Industrial, and owned his own business, JT Extreme Motorsports. He started his career at Petersen Incorporated in 1995 as a welder where he fabricated custom equipment for the mining, aerospace, and nuclear industries. He developed many lifelong friendships throughout his tenure and considered the Petersen team as family. His two sons worked with him at Petersen’s for several years where he helped them develop their values and strong work ethic.
Blake was a big kid at heart, always joking around and having fun. He was extremely social and could carry on a conversation with a complete stranger. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, and snowmobiling. He was very adventurous and always looking for an adrenaline rush, which fueled his passion for skydiving. He began skydiving in 1985. During the last 30 years he logged over 4,000 jumps. For the past 14 years he spent his weekends working as a tandem instructor for Skydive Utah to help others fulfill their dream of skydiving. Over the years, he jumped into many local events including the Ogden Rodeo, Stadium of Fire, and several other fireworks shows and parades. He was the hardest working man their family had ever known. He was always willing to put his family and friends before himself.
Blake is survived by his fiancé and love of his life, Mistie Morrison; his parents, Gene and Joanne Meibos; his three children: Jenna (Bill), Brock (Ashley), and Brit (Samantha); his grandchildren: Devynn, Zoey, Chevy, Krew, Jett, baby Evelyn on the way, Traeton, and Jaslyn; two brothers: Clay (Margaret) and Dale (Linda); and three sisters: Margene (Ace) Calder, Mindy (Martin) Houck, and Cara Jo (Casey) Stanger.
Blake was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Arda Rasmussen.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, December 30th from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blake Meibos Memorial account at any America First Credit Union.
The family would like to apologize for the countless shenanigans Blake pulled on the family, friends, and co-workers throughout the years!
