Bob Barton, age 85, of Washington Terrace, Utah passed away peacefully with family by his side at his son’s home, Kelly Barton, on Saturday, February 4, 2023 as a result of Dementia.
Bob was born on February 8, 1937 in Ogden, Utah to Leo Shurtliff and Eva Newberry Shurtliff. Bob loved his stepfather John Earl Barton and took his last name. Bob had five siblings, Jack Shurtliff, Linda Anderson, Ailien Lewis, Susan Beebe and John Barton.
He married Carolyn Bingham, and had four children, Debbie Thomas, Bob Barton Jr., Sherri (Stewart) Norris, and Brett (Angie) Barton. They later divorced.
Bob married Loris Barton on November 6, 1971. Loris had five children, Debbie Colby, Brent (Tina) Haddon, Jody Storey, Christy (Don) Tobler and Tonya (Ron) Olberding. Bob and Loris had one son, Kelly Barton. They were married for 46 years until her death.
Bob worked for 32 years at Fresenius Medical Care. He served his Country and the State of Utah for 20 years as a member of the Utah Army National Guard achieving the rank of First Sargent. He enjoyed serving and made many good friends over the years.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Loris; son, Bob Jr.; brother, Jack; and sister, Ailien.
Bob’s son, Kelly, moved him from his Yuma, AZ home after his wife’s death to live with him at his home. Kelly took care of his father daily for almost six years as his health progressively declined due to the effects of Dementia.
Bob and Loris loved all of their ten children that included his, hers and theirs. They enjoyed many weekends at their beloved Sourdough Wilderness Ranch Mountain home. After his retirement, they moved permanently to their seasonal Yuma Arizona home and made several trips to Mexico with their many friends.
Bob enjoyed both big game and bird hunting with his dogs. He also loved his personal companion lap dogs over the years. He would watch old movies and especially enjoyed the classic Westerns that never got old to him. Bob would never turn down an opportunity to golf with his friends and family. He was a dedicated husband to his wife Loris and always appreciated her wonderful meals.
The family wants to thank Elevation Hospice and especially Jacoy and Danny for their compassionate care of Bob.
