Bob Gagestein
Absent from the Body, Present with the Lord.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness.” 2 Timothy 4:7
On October 1, 2007 our loving Lord called Bob home after a courageous 9 ½ year battle with cancer. He fought hard, and he won!
Bob was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands on January 10, 1947 to Gerrit and Stien Gagestein. He immigrated to the United States in 1957 with his family and settled in Salt Lake City. He was a Vietnam War Army veteran. He married Leona DeBoef on October 10, 1969. They were blessed with 5 children.
Bob had a contagious sense of humor and tremendous love for others and for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He loved skiing, wood-working, painting, traveling, working with church youth and missions, and spending time with his family. He was very courageous and an inspiration to everyone who knew him. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his wife (Leona) and 5 children, Arlan (Melissa) Gagestein, Michelle (Ernest) Griffin, Arlo (Amanda) Gagestein, Melinda (Andrew) Ashby, and Angela (Vien) Voroatsady and 6 grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, and Jacob Griffin, and Gavin, Asher, and Koen Gagestein. Also, surviving is his brother, Cor (Margeret) Gagestein.
