Bonni Jensen

September 12, 1955 — March 8, 2019

On March 8, 2019 our kind, loving, and sweet momma, grandma, and great-grandma returned home to our Heavenly Father, following a valiant battle with ovarian cancer.  She fought long and hard for nearly 3 years, even through her final days.

Mom was born on September 12, 1955 to Claude and Audrey Melaney in Layton, Utah.  She graduated from Clearfield High School and resided in Layton most of her life.  She loved being an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  She treasured going to the Temple prior to and throughout (when possible) her illness as well as being involved in her ward.  Everyone in her ward was so welcoming and loving and expressed their love for her right up to the end.  We are grateful for the friendships and support they have given her over the years.  She also enjoyed crafting, to include making Plan of Salvations for the church missionaries and making several amazing birthday cards for her children and grandchildren.

Mom was an avid animal lover and loved her dogs more than anything, including Tiffi and Laci and most recently Coco and Chika.  She was gentle, loving, quick-witted and a good listener.  Mom also had a “sophisticated” palate and knew how to place an “order”.  She knew what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to request it.  Mom loved her children and grandchildren and would frequently put them before herself.  She was so loved by everyone around her and she will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her three daughters: Stephanie Yeary (Andy) Roy, Utah; Natalie Savage Clinton, Utah; and Britni Symes (Isaac) North Ogden, Utah; three sisters Renee Gilmore, Meg Shabow, Melanie Bovero, and two brothers, Dennis Melaney and Brian Melaney; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Audrey Melaney and a brother LaDell Portella.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Swan Lakes Ward, 2120 W. Gentile Street, Layton.  Friends may visit family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
