Bonnie Ray Johnson May, passed away on April 11, 2025 in Ogden, Utah. She was born on February 12, 1931 in Brigham City, Utah. The daughter of Stella Edna Andersen and Arnold Lawrence Johnson.
Bonnie graduated from Box Elder High School in 1949. She married Ira Arnold May on November 23, 1949, they were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. They had four children. They moved to Ogden in 1958. Ira passed away on November 19, 1976.
In her earlier years, Bonnie was an avid bowler. She worked a variety of jobs throughout her life, including at Shupe Williams Candy, Hoover Tires and at Ogden Regional Hospital.
She later married her life partner of 20 years Kay Gardner when she was 80 years old.
Bonnie had a profound appreciation for the festive spirit that holidays bring, particularly during Thanksgiving and Christmas. She devoted much of her time and creativity to decorating her home.
Bonnie mastered many crafting skills, including knitting and crocheting. She shared her talents with her friends and family. Many of her grandchildren still use her counted cross-stich Christmas stockings.
Survived by her children: Robert (Joan) May, Uraina (Dan) Maw, Zachary (Virginia) May and Val (Bruce) Vellinga, 22 grandchildren and 66 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Ira and Kay, her 7 siblings, two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd, North Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Thursday prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment will be in the Ben Lomond Cemetery, next to her sweetheart Ira.
