Bonnie Kay Olsen
On October 31, 2014, surrounded by family, Bonnie K. Olsen, slipped peacefully from mortal life after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
Bonnie was born in Ogden, Utah and attended Weber County Schools. She was married in June 1974 to Marc D. Alberts. They had a son and daughter together. After the tragic loss of a son and husband, she was remarried to Bruce D. Olsen on April 2, 1982 in a beautiful ceremony in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Over the years, Bonnie and Bruce served as foster parents to numerous children in the Ogden area. She will always be remembered for her loving and special care that she gave to those in need.
Later she used her skills at Ben Lomond High School as a teacher’s assistant to Special Education students in the moderate to severe unit. She loved being able to work with God’s choice spirits on earth and they loved her.
Although she faced many challenges in her earthly life, she handled them with prayer and grace. She was, indeed an example of enduring to the end.
Bonnie is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Bruce Olsen; seven children, Linda (Jarrod) Garr, Tiffany (Jess) Sodenkamp, Candice (Jarrod) Augustine, Ryan (Summer), Olsen, Kaylee Olsen, Kaycee Olsen, and Katie Olsen; nine grandchildren, her parents, Larry and Loa Chantland; sisters, Christine (Cliff) Peterson, Della Marie Porter, Kathleen (Steve) Russell, Tracey (Steve) McKissen, Terry (Larry) Hawks, Debra (Greg) Street, Diane (Scott) Mclean, and brother, David (Allison) Chantland. She was preceded in death by her son, D J Alberts; and granddaughter, Isabelle Augustine.
The family would like to thank IHC Hospice & Home Healthcare, as well as Dr. Hansen and his staff for the loving service they gave to Bonnie.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Harrisville 1st Ward Chapel, 435 West Harrisville Road. Friends may visit family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church house.
