Boyd J Cole

Boyd Jackson Cole Boyd Jackson Cole passed away suddenly Saturday, December 14, 2013. He suffered from diabetes and Alzheimers. He was born November 12, 1929 in Kaysville, Utah to Ernest Percy and Nellie Jackson Cole. He attended schools in Kaysville including Davis High School. He enlisted in the Navy on October 5, 1950. He and his brother Rulon served on the transport ship USS Telfair during the Korean War. After his discharge, he resided in Los Angeles, California where he worked as a Baker for the Continental Bakery. He later purchased a café in Pomona, California. In 1965 he returned to Utah where he was employed at Hill Air Force Base and Defense Depot Ogden. He retired in 1993. He married Betty Jo Roberts Davis, widow of Zan Stevens Davis, of Bountiful, Utah; and helped her raise stepchildren, Jo Dawn Davis McEwan, Kelly E. Davis, Debbie Davis Christensen DeBatty and Zan R. Davis. He has six step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandsons. He enjoyed gardening, especially raising delicious tomatoes. He kept a well manicured lawn and yard. He also had volunteered at the Heritage Senior Center in Clearfield for many years. Boyd is survived by his brother, Norman, Rupert, ID; two sisters, Donna McAlister, Walnut Creek, CA; Reta (Lee) Dearden, Riverdale; stepson, Zan Davis, Clearfield; stepdaughters, Jo Dawn McEwan, North Carolina; and Debbie (Bill) DeBatty, Fruit Heights. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four brothers, Sheldon, Bill, Ashley, Rulon, two sisters, Amber Cole, Nelda Heckert and stepson, Kelly Davis. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 E. Crestwood Road, Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit family Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
