Boyd W. Roper
RIVERDALE – Boyd W. Roper, 84, passed away Friday, June 27, 2008 at Ogden Regional Medical Center following a heart attack.
He was born January 18, 1924 in Gunnison, Utah, a son of Jesse William and Clara Mae Whitlock Roper.
Boyd married Ruby Eileene Goodfellow in January of 1944 in Salt Lake City. They moved to the Ogden area in 1946.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Boyd served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II for three years.
He was an auto mechanic, car salesman and owned his own car lot in Ogden. He then worked at Hill Air Force Base as an industrial engineer retiring in 1983.
Boyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and playing cards with his longtime friends. He also enjoyed going to coffee in the mornings with his buddies. Nothing gave him more joy than going south to Pahrump, Nevada for the winters.
He leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Ruby, of Riverdale; one daughter, Judy Roper Miner (Mike deceased), Gunlock in Southern UT; two sons, Randall Boyd Roper (Marilyn), Uintah; Gregory Kim Roper, Riverdale; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Helen Cagle (Jim), Riverdale; Ardyth Crump (Sherman), South Jordan.
Boyd was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Roper (Vila) and one sister, Arlene Jenkins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
