Brant Buck

December 30, 1959 — February 18, 2019

Brant Eugene Buck, age 59, passed away early February 18, 2019. Brant was born December 30, 1959 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Eugene and Cleone D. Buck.

Brant grew up in West Point where he played many sports such as football, basketball, and wrestling, but his true love was working with his horses. Early in his life he trained, raced, and showed horses. When those days were over he still enjoyed his horses and would ride them any chance he got, his mules were his favorite. He enjoyed hunting, being in the mountains, riding his horses and packing with his mules.

One of his other jobs was that of a farrier which he did for many years.

Brant was known as “Buck” to all of his friends. He was a collector of many things from china to tools and farm machinery. He loved “antiques” and would bring home anything he could find that interested him.

He enjoyed his job as a long haul semi truck driver and worked for several companies. He said that he had wanted to be a truck driver since he was very young. He took great pride in his job and was known for getting the job done. He enjoyed cross country driving and would call his Mother and father to tell them about the country he was seeing. It was on many of these trips that he would pull his truck over and do a little antique or garage sale shopping.

When his health finally prevented him from driving long distance hauls, he would spend his time working construction, riding his motorcycle, tinkering in the garage, and making things with his hands. He had a laugh that we will all miss.

Throughout his life he had many friends, many of them life long friends. In his last few years he and his friends would gather in the garage to hang out and shoot the breeze, have movie night and play games. He was a presence that could not be ignored. He was a big man with old school values. He protected those who could not protect themselves and he had a hard time saying no to those who asked for his help. The last several years he has lived with and taken loving care of his mom.

Brant married Janeil Miller September 3, 1982, who brought her young daughter, Heather, into the family. Two years later they welcomed a baby girl, Audrey, to complete their family. They were later divorced. He was a loving father with a stern side. He taught his daughter's many things about caring for the animals on their farm in Huntsville. Audrey especially enjoyed following her dad around anywhere he went.

He is survived by daughter Audrey Emma Buck, stepdaughter Heather Fisher Bowden; granddaughter’s MaKayla, Shaylie, and Taycie Bowden, mother, Cleone, sisters Peggy (Dennis), Brenda, Karen, and Kaylene and brother Gregory. Brant is preceded in death by his father, Eugene, his brothers, Ivan and Larry, his grandparents and his cousin, Chuck (Charles Buck) who was like a brother to him.

The family wishes to thank McKay Dee Emergency room and ICU staff for their kindness and compassion.
