Brenda Mae Kinghorn Welch

January 18, 1962 ~ October 26, 2021

Brenda Mae Kinghorn Welch, 59, passed away Tuesday October 26, 2021, after a long battle with her health.

Brenda was born to her parents, Ferris Kay Kinghorn “Casey” and Cornelia Mae Anderson “Mae” on January 18, 1962, in Ogden, Utah – the baby of four children. She graduated from Bonneville High School and continued her education at Weber State University, where she double-majored in Psychology and Social Work, graduating with high honors.

Brenda was an LCSW, and she worked as a crisis counselor in addition to several care centers providing guidance to others. She was an eloquent writer and published multiple short stories throughout her life. She had three children and gained two more amazing children when she married the love of her life, Scott T. Welch on March 7, 1998, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Her sweet little family meant the world to her, and she spoke of each child with such great pride.  Her beloved husband passed away in 2003, after which Brenda never remarried.

Brenda enjoyed writing, crafting, gardening, and was a wonderful cook. She opened her heart and her home to all those in need; she was “mom” not only to her children but to everyone. More than anything, her pride and joy in life were her grandchildren, who brought her insurmountable happiness and were her “reason to live”. Brenda’s beautiful spirit touched the lives of many -- she loved unconditionally and intentionally.  The past five years of her life were spent with her loving partner, Thomas Hoose. During this time, he helped her through her deteriorating bone disease that prevented her from walking. The two of them found comfort together and enjoyed being grandparents.

The last week of her life was spent with her youngest daughter; baking, giggling, playing with her grandchildren, and feeling truly loved.

Brenda is survived by her children, Casey, Brianna, Kylie (Casey), Jason (Jessie), Andrea, and oh so many grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Rhonda Fowler and brothers, Roger and Randy. She was preceded in death by her husband Scott and her loving parents.

Brenda, just like her mother, was loved by everyone who knew her, and she loved them more. Her genuine kindness and pure heart will never be forgotten. May we all learn to be a little more like Brenda.
