Brent Earl Spiers
1941 ~ 2008
OGDEN – Brent Earl Spiers, 67, returned to his Heavenly Father on Monday, July 21, 2008.
Brent was born July 16, 1941 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Pearl Murdock and Earl Basil Spiers. He graduated from Weber High School in Ogden in 1959.
He married the love of his life, Lynette Hope, on October 17, 1973 in Elko, Nevada.
Brent was baptized and attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
His love in life was raising and training thoroughbred horses. His fondest memories were always on the back of a horse. He loved cowboy poetry, banjo music, children, and all animals. He was a great communicator and had an abundant gift of gab. Brent was a friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him. The following is a poem he enjoyed and felt a special connection with:
“Under the star-studded canopy vast,
campfire, coffee, and comfort at last,
Bacon that sizzles crisp in the pan,
after a roundup, smells good to a man.
Stories of ranchers and rustlers retold
around the fires, as the embers grow cold.
These are the tunes that old memories play,
make me a Cowboy again for a day.”
Brent is survived by his wife, Lynette, of Ogden; three step-sons, Larry (Debbie) Hope, West Haven; Val Hope, Ogden; Lance (Sherry) Hope, Riverdale; one sister, Sherry (Jeff) Morris, Marriott-Slaterville; two brothers, Jay Spiers, Brigham City; Mark (Kris) Spiers, Mountain View, WY; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
