Brett Eugene Call passed away in his home of natural causes on December 15, 2024, and was warmly embraced by his father, mother and brother.
Brett was born to extremely loving parents, Robert Anson Call and Donna Kay Beckman, on September 14, 1958, in South Ogden. Brett attended Bonneville High School and served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chandler, Arizona. He continued to be an active member of the Church with a strong love and trust in the Lord.
Brett married Marilyn Henderson in the Salt Lake Temple on June 5, 1989. During their 25-year marriage they had two beautiful children, Aaron and Ashley, and they later divorced. Brett was able to spend the past 11 years with his loving parents and continued building relationships with family.
He enjoyed hands-on work, and his career included working in construction, manufacturing and driving trucks for Salt Lake County.
Growing up, he loved to spend time with his brother, Dave. along with his buddies, finding adventure and creating mischief many times to his parents’ dismay. Brett always kept those memories close to him and loved to share them with others. He loved to spend his time in Bear Lake, St. George, and camping with his family.
He enjoyed taking road trips with his family where he could immerse himself in the natural beauty of his surroundings. When he was not with family, he found peace and solace being alone where he enjoyed painting. He was very passionate about drawing and painting and had a natural talent much like his father and brother.
Brett had a very creative part of him that he could tune into, which was quite amazing/remarkable, at times being able to play songs by ear on the piano.
He loved watching nature and survival shows with a particular fascination for the harsh and beautiful desert aesthetic, with interest and love for wildlife, in particular, scorpions.
Brett lived by Stallone’s creed, which inspired his resilient spirit: “You, me or nobody is
gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.” These were words he returned to often for strength. Taking his fair share of hits, he continued to keep on going amidst the suffering. Brett knew heartache, strength and perseverance. He relied greatly on his family, who cared and supported him unconditionally, particularly his younger sister, Shanna, who devoted so much love and kindness to him.
Brett is survived by his two children, Aaron (Audri) Call and Ashley (Erica Bruin) Call; and three grandchildren, Nora, Maci, and Robbie; sister, Shanna (Brett) Moyes; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Call; father, Robert Call; and brother, Dave Call.
“Wingsy Darlin’, may your chains be broken and you find your peace.”
