Brian Everett Gilmore
May 22, 1963 ~ March 26, 2019
Brian Everett Gilmore, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle passed away from natural causes unexpectedly while on work assignment at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, Arizona on Tuesday, March 26, 2019.
He was born on May 22, 1963, in Searsport, Maine, the son of Everett Miles and Florence Nellie Gilmore. He grew up in a military family and lived in Cuba, Illinois, and Virginia before his family retired to Searsport, Maine. Brian graduated from Searsport High School in 1981 and enlisted in the US Air Force. Following his graduation from basic training, Brian was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. In 1984, his dream of moving out west to be a cowboy was realized when he was assigned to Hill Air Force Base 388th Tactical Fighter Wing. While serving with 388th, Brian worked on the flight line as a crew chief and was part of the 1987, 1989 and 1991 Gunsmoke Teams. In 1991, Brian transitioned from active duty to 419th Tactical Fighter Wing as an Air Reserve Technician, where he proudly served with his fellow airmen keeping his beloved F-16 Fighting Falcon flying. Brian was deployed in support of Operation Southern Watch and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Brian made lifelong friendships during his 28-year Air Force career and was proud to serve his country. Brian retired from the Air Force Reserve in 2009 as Sr. Master Sargent. He was currently working in the A10 Program Office at Hill AFB as an Equipment Specialist.
In 1986, Brian married Diane Bair and they enjoyed 32 years together. They are the proud parents to three children, Katelyn, Colton, and Emily. As a family they enjoyed camping, riding horses, and cheering for the Red Sox.
He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish with family and friends and just being outdoors. Brian was a competitive shooter and enjoyed the friendships he formed shooting with the Action Pistol club.
Brian is survived by his wife, Diane, daughter, Katelyn Marie Peck and her husband, Robert James Peck, son, Colton Everett Gilmore, daughter, Emily Miranda Gilmore and special granddaughter, Sawyer Briana Peck who was born on March 29, 2019. Predeceased by his father, Everett Miles Gilmore, dogs, Cody and Smoot, and several really great horses.
Brian will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The only thing bigger than his 6’5 frame was his personality. He always had a story to tell about his family, Air Force career, hunting, fishing, last night’s Red Sox game, or shooting.
Good ride cowboy, good ride.
