Brian James Green, 42, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 10, 2014 at his home with his family by his side, after an eight year battle with cancer. His battle was lost to a brain-stem glioma.

He was born April 10, 1972 in Victoria, Texas to Tommy James Green and Betsy Jane Gabbert Green. He was raised and educated in Victoria, Texas.

Brian married Summer Staples on December 29, 1995 and they later divorced. On March 5, 2014, Brian married Alisha Rae Hoopes, the love of his life, who cared for him during his illness until the end of his life.

He proudly served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. He served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He took pride in serving our country and defending our freedom. He moved to Utah with the Air Force and has since resided in Layton, Syracuse and Roy. Brian retired honorably as a Technical Sergeant of the Air Force in 2010.

He was a car enthusiast, talented in car restoration and maintenance. He spent hours working and building cars with his friends and family. He especially enjoyed rides on his Harley with his friends and had a love for his country.

Brian is survived by his wife, Alisha Green, Roy; two sons, Lonnie Crisp, Victoria, TX; Cole Green, Layton; one daughter, Grace Green, Layton; two stepsons, Gabriel Campbell, Roy; Kaden Campbell, Roy; one granddaughter, Briley Crisp, Victoria, TX; his parents, Tommy (Debbie Green, Victoria, TX; Betsy Idlett, Cuero, TX; and one sister, Lori (Jeremy) Dearman Palestine, TX.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Troy and Mable Green, Harvey and Dottie Gabbert, and step-dad, Dallas Idlett.

The family extends sincere gratitude to the Huntsman Cancer Institute staff; Dr. Colman, Kylee and Sean; the ICU staff – his special nurse Jackie and Rocky Mountain Hospice and his nurse Heather; and John Watson Chevrolet in Ogden.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Wednesday for 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Eden Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for medical and funeral expenses.
