Brian L. Mortensen

Brian L. Mortensen, 62, died Saturday, October 11, 2008, at Ogden Regional Medical Center from complications following recent surgery.

He was born August 18, 1946, in Ogden, a son of Clint Rulon and Laura Mae Bryan Mortensen.

Brian married Vicki Hess on December 20, 1973, in the Ogden LDS Temple.

He grew up in the Ogden area graduating from Bonneville High School in 1964. He also graduated from Weber State College in 1971, with a degree in finance and accounting. He made his home in Syracuse for the past 32 years.

Brian was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission to Argentina. He was a member of the Jupiter Hills Ward in Syracuse.

He was employed at the Internal Revenue Service as a tax examiner for over 20 years.

Brian loved collecting books, salt water fish, trains, tools and enjoyed cooking. His favorite activity was spending time with his family, especially in the outdoors.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Layne Barker and the doctors and staff at Ogden Regional Medical Center for their compassionate care of Brian.

Surviving are his wife, Vicki, of Syracuse; three daughters, Jana (Tyson) Steel, Syracuse; Tonya (Bob) Brandler, Holladay; Kendra (Ryan) Thurgood, Willard; and eight grandchildren.

Also surviving are one brother, Robert C. Mortensen, one sister, Betty (Gayle) Hartman, and many nieces and nephews.

Brian was welcomed to heaven by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 16 at 11 a.m. at the Jupiter Hills Ward Chapel, 3267 West 700 South, with Bishop Brent Jones officiating.

Friends may call at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the Ward Chapel 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
