Brian Henry Weight

December 21, 1960 — October 13, 2023

The world lost a truly great man on October 13, 2023.

Brian Henry Weight was born on December 21, 1960 to Glen Aldous Weight and Patricia Johnson. He was raised in Perry Utah and by the time he was a teenager had three jobs. He attended Box Elder High School where he played football and wrestled. During his sophomore year he met Cheryl Skidmore and they have been together ever since. After high school he attended Utah State University for one year and then served an LDS mission to Munich Germany. He loved the German people and culture. Brian and Cheryl were married in the Logan LDS temple on August 18, 1982. They welcomed their first son Daniel in Logan, before Brian completed his BA Degree in Finance at USU in 1985.

Brian accepted a position in the payroll department with JCPenney and worked his way into many managerial positions, the first of which was in the Salt Lake area where they were blessed with their second son Camden. They were transferred to Plano Texas in 1989 where their next two sons Justin and Trevor joined the motley crew. In late 2000 the family relocated to Kaysville, where many family memories continue to be made.

At an early age Brian was active in scouting and earned his Eagle scout and never stopped; even enjoying the Wood Badge experience. He went to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimmaron New Mexico twice! The first time taking his older two sons and the second with his younger two, four years later! He loved having four sons. One of Brian’s greatest traits was his desire to help and serve others.

In 2007 he was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s Disease and has been valiantly battling this disease. He instinctively knew how things worked and could fix anything. In addition to making his yard beautiful, he spent many hours either on his motorcycle, bicycle or enjoying nature. His greatest joy in life came from spending time with his family and he absolutely adored his grandchildren!

Brian was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many callings including counselor in two bishoprics, Elder’s Quorum Presidency, Stake Young Men’s President and Ward Finance Clerk. His most important calling to him was visiting with “his” families in their homes! If there was any type of service needed, Brian was always first in line. He did this without wanting praise or recognition.

Brian was preceded in death by both of his parents, his sister Darcie and his in-laws, Bill and Dorene Skidmore. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cheryl Ann.
