Brigadier General L. Boyd Anderson

March 30, 1935 — February 6, 2025

Brigadier General Lawrence Boyd “Andy” Anderson, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the age of 89. Boyd was born on March 30, 1935, to Lawrence Roland and Lillie Signe Anderson in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1953. 

Boyd served an LDS Mission from 1954 to 1957 in Uruguay and Paraguay. Boyd took a train to the East Coast, then a boat to South America. The journey took 3 months, he then started his 2½ year mission.

After Boyd’s mission he met and married Linda Standing. They had four children, Deborah (Phillip) Maw, Julie (Chris) Carling, L. Jeff (Karen) Anderson, and Kevin (Amy) Anderson. They later divorced. Boyd enjoyed and loved his 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. 

Boyd earned an Associate degree from Weber State College in 1955, and a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration from George Washington University in 1962, completed Air Command and Staff College in 1981, and Air War College in 1983.

General Anderson’s military career began in June 1962, when he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Program at George Washington University, where he was a distinguished military graduate. Boyd served 33 years in the Department of Defense. When he retired in 1995, he was a Brigadier General in the Air Force Reserve, where he served as a Mobilization Assistant to the Commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center in Utah. Boyd also retired from civil service at Ogden in 1994 as chief of the manpower and organization office.

General Anderson’s military awards and decoration include the Meritourius Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, and the Mast Supply Fuels Specialty Badge.

Boyd is survived by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and sisters, Marsha Haynes and Patrice Porter (Wayne); and brothers, Craig Anderson (Leanne), Scott Anderson (Shellie), and Jim Daily. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bruce Anderson; brother, Mike Daily; and brother-in-law, Bruce Haynes.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
