Brittany Nicole Scadlock
March 21, 1995 – March 11, 2015
“Knock it off!”
Our beautiful daughter and sister, Brittany Nicole Scadlock, 19, died March 11, 2015, while serving in the Argentina Resistencia Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing Brittany died doing what she loved, serving the people of Argentina. During her last phone call home to her family she said “I’m so happy! I’m so glad I came on a mission.”
Brittany’s favorite scripture is Mosiah 7:33: “But if ye will turn to the Lord with full purpose of heart and put your trust in him, and serve him with all diligence of mind, if ye do this, he will, according to his own will and pleasure, deliver you out of bondage.”
Brittany was born in Ogden, Utah, on March 21, 1995, to Terry and Nicole Scadlock, the second of four children. She loved her family--they were the center of her life and each other’s best friends.
Brittany attended Roy High School and graduated with honors in 2013. She received a soccer scholarship to Western Nebraska Community College. She loved the game and, injured or not, she played to the end. She played with passion, she played with heart, and that is how she lived her life.
She loved road trips to soccer tournaments, family vacations, singing with her sisters on “Scrubbing Day”, or while driving in the car with her brother. Brittany had a special love for animals and the ability to easily earn their trust. They loved her as much as she loved them. She had a sweetness of heart and a contagious smile that could light up a room. She was a shining example to all who knew her.
Prior to her mission, Brittany worked for Scaddy’s, her family’s restaurant, as well as at Animal Care Veterinary Hospital in Clearfield.
Brittany is survived by her parents Terry and Nicole, brother Kyle, sisters Allie and Taylor, grandma Judy Scadlock, and grandparents Richard and Shelba Rich. She is also survived by many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends who love her dearly.
Brittany was preceded in death by her great-grandma Isabell Ashton, grandpa “Joe” Arlen J Scadlock, and uncle Seth Ferrin.
The family wishes to thank The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, The Embassy of the United States in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Mission President and Sister Franco, Kanesville Stake President Steve Robbins, and all others who provided services and support during this challenging time.
We love you Brittany. We will miss your tender smile and warm embrace.
