Brooke Leann Thomas was born in Puyallup, Washington to Jari Lynn Duby and David Charles Thomas on June 26, 1971. When she was only a few months old her parents moved to Utah where she spent the rest of her years on this earth in Pleasant Grove, Clearfield, Brigham City, Honeyville, Ogden and Layton, Utah. Brook was living in Layton, Utah with her loving husband, Dale Hatch and daughter, Samantha Crowley when she left us at age 45. She enjoyed love and service from her dear daughter, Dawn Lee Vowles, son-in-law, Derrek Vowles and 3 precious grandsons, Ryker Ace, Jayden Casper and Dakota Crew. She left behind her mother, Jari Lynn Duby Wood, stepfather, David Loy Wood, and 9 brothers and sisters: David Boyd Thomas, Kenneth Lloyd and Chris Thomas, Bryan Loy and Linda Wood, Kimberly Jean and Rob Peterson, Bradley Michael Wood, Bobbi Jo and Randy McKay, Suzette and AJ Jackson, Nikki Lee and Mark Porter and Jason Frederick and Richard Cheny, and dozens of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Although in our minds, Brooke was called home before her time, we know the Lord has a greater plan for her than she was able to accomplish in this life. She needed His help to move forward and become all that He knows she can be. She is now in His arms and those who have gone on before, grandparents: Gerald Clarence and Verda Ila Duby, Walter Hatch, Raymond and Mary Lou Frederick and Uncle Boyd Lyle Duby and many more.
Brooke loved to cross stitch and crochet. She made beautiful quilts for her grand babies and her mother and was almost finished with her last quilt for her unborn grandson, Alec. We feel she will be kissing him goodbye and helping him on his way down to Dawn and Derrek any day now.
Her smile was as constant as the sun coming up and brought warmth to many who crossed her path as it shined without judgment of their path. She and her husband, Dale, opened their home to many souls needing a season of shelter. Loving came easy to Brooke and her hugs were given freely. She loved little babies and was always eager to express her motherly skills with free kisses to any child who was willing----or not.
She had a great sense of humor and when enjoying a good comedy all could hear the theatre ring with her laughter. She enjoyed posting reality checks on Facebook of which many expressed her love and respect for her country and the service others had given for her freedoms. She was very proud that her husband had served in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
Brook was rescued by the love of her life, Dale David Hatch, whom she married in Honeyville, Utah on June 3, 2006. She expressed many times that Dale was sent from her Father in Heaven to save her life and bring her security and peace. Their married life consisted of loving service to their daughters and grandsons who lit up their home by keeping her company when Dale had to make many long hauls with his BIG truck out of state without her. Brook loved to travel with her husband whenever she could, and it was while traveling Monday morning to Denver, Colorado that she passed away peacefully in her sleep and unexpectedly left our earthly circle of love to return home to the arms of her Savior and family members who have gone on before her. She is now released from physical pain and more alive than ever before. So, fly on…..our sweet Brooke…..we shall see you again.
