Bruce James Petersen
In Loving Memory
LAYTON a" Bruce was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He passed away suddenly on Monday at the age of 73, at home.
He was born February 26, 1934 to Herman Arthur and Naomi Heelis Whittle Petersen in Evanston, Wyoming. He graduated from E.H.S. and was on the State Football Championship Team. He went on to BYU and served a 2 year mission for the LDS Church in Eastern Canada. He graduated from BYU in 1959.
Bruce married E. RaNae Lindsay on September 5, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had four sons, Steven Bruce Petersen (died November 29, 2005), Brent R. Petersen, Kent H. Petersen (Angie), Dan J. Petersen, five grandchildren, Katie, Casey, Morgan and Cera and Austin, also three great-grandchildren, Zoie, Ayden, and Paren, and one sister Linda Jensen (Neil) of Provo.
Bruce worked at HAFB as an Industrial Engineer and a branch chief for 30 years. He was a member of the Dawson Hollow Ward and served in scouting and the Sunday school.
Bruce liked to raise horses, train and race them with the boys. He like to hunt and especially fish. The last few years he would go fishing in Wyoming with his dear friend John Day. Bruce so enjoyed his friends at Sill''s and Denny''s. He especially liked going on little tours with Ned Clark to see the Utah trails. Bruce was a friend to everyone and dearly loved by his children and family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
In lieu of flowers family suggests a donation be made to Primary Children''s Medical Center.
