Bruce Scott Stewart passed away at home, surrounded by family, on March 28, 2025. He was 84 years old.
He was born in Ashland, Kansas in 1940, the son of Scott and Gladys Stewart, who were farmers. Following the death of his father, the family moved to Beaverton, Oregon, where Bruce attended high school.
In 1961 Bruce enlisted in the army. He met and married the love of his life, Laquetta Joy Berry, during basic training. The newlyweds spent a year in cold-war Germany, where their son, Scott, was born.
Back in the states, the couple spent time in Colorado Springs. Bruce had a job as a photographer at a local newspaper. They relocated to Oregon, where Bruce attended college while working full time to complete a degree in engineering. The couple added daughters Leslie and Rachael to the family while Bruce’s career had him designing logging truck trailers, shredding systems to masticate industrial waste, brake drums, and a variety of other industrial equipment and factory machines.
Bruce’s career took him all over the world. He travelled extensively in China, installing and repairing equipment in factories and mills. His work also took him all over the United States, to Mexico, and Europe. In his later years he would often share stories of his travels with friends and family.
Bruce was devoted to his family; his wife, Joy; and her large and close family, his children, Scott and daughter-in-law Susie; his daughter, Leslie and son-in-law Travis; and his daughter, Rachael; and his beloved grandchildren, who were the reason for his happiness, Tristan, Sam, Jake, Trey and Anna.
